Karate & Kobudo

The Karate taught in the Kojo-Ryu Koshinkan are two seperate and distinct styles, first Chibana-Ha Shorin-Ryu and the oldest of the Okinawa Karate styles Kojo-Ryu.

These are taught with the kihon (basics) remaining intact for each system and are taught seperate from each other.  Kafu Kojo Sensei and Chosin Chibana Sensei shared a friendship which led to Kojo Sensei learning the Shorin-Ryu kata from Chibana Sensei.  Kojo Sensei used these kata at the first and only public Kojo-Ryu dojo in Naha City, Okinawa that was operated directly by the Kojo (Koshiro) family.

These were used as introductory kata and to build a strong foundation before the old secret Kojo_Ryu family kata were taught.  The Kobudo taught is the Kojo-Ryu Sai-Jutsu and Jo-Jutsu methods, the Yamani (Yammne) Ryu Bojutsu of Shugoro Nakazato Sensei who was a student of of the legendary Masami Chinen.  In addition the Eku, Sai, Nunchaku, Tonfa and Bo of Nakazato Sensei are preserved as well.
